SALDEF Offers Stipends for Congressional Interns

Last year, SALDEF launched the Sikh American Community’s first ever Congressional Internship Program, under its new SikhLEAD initiative, to encourage political and civic engagement amongst Sikh American youth. The program partners with Congressional offices to place exceptional Sikh American college students and recent graduates in internship positions on Capitol Hill.
For this summer’s interns, SALDEF is pleased to announce stipends of $1,500 for successful completion of the Congressional Internship Program.  Stipends will help interns offset travel and accommodation costs.

Through this program, young Sikh American leaders will have access to a competitive opportunity that will serve to further their academic and professional aspirations.  Additionally, throughout the internship, SALDEF will host a series of special programming events including, leadership workshops, networking events, and social outings in DC, to further contribute to the overall experience of the interns.

Students of all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Application deadline for summer 2012 is February 26th at 11:59PM EST. Early applications will be given preference.

This exciting experience will allow interns to:

  • explore a potential career track
  • create a network of contacts
  • develop professional skills and build confidence

Financial support for Interns is provided by generous support from community members like you.  If you are interested in supporting a Sikh American intern this summer, please contact us.
